What is the right time for timber felling? Is it possible to use the summer timber for house manufacturing?
Since 2002 we have sent to Norway about 60 houses. Manufacturing of houses took place under a constant control of the customer’s representatives from Norway. The question of the choice between the winter or summer timber has not arisen, as in the production technology drying of laft to humidity no more than 20 % (under the standard of Norway) is provided. Therefore, we use timber of all-the-year-round felling. The laft drying is being performed by the combined method – the primary drying in dehydration chambers at low temperatures plus the natural drying. The two-edged cant beam cut from two sides upon leaving the drying chambers is kept under shades for further natural drying. The natural drying lasts for 4-6 months. As a house manufacture continues about 2 months, then it turns out that from the moment of the input of timber into the wood shop till the outcome of the end-product - a complete set of the house from industrial area 6 -8 months pass. For the combined method of drying this time is sufficient to achieve the humidity of material no more than 20 %.
